Melissa is a native of Louisville where she lives with her husband and son. She has spent 30 years working with not-for-profit organizations such as Metro United Way, Center for Quality Management, and New Profit to address issues such as poverty, mental health, homelessness, and racial equity. In addition she served on the board of Wellspring Schizophrenia Foundation for 12 years, and her child’s elementary PTA for four years. Melissa joined the board of Snacks in Sacks because it provides a simple and effective way for individuals and families with children to volunteer and make a difference for people living on the streets.
