Our bag filling event Friday, September 22nd, at Fern Creek United Methodist Church was a huge success. We hosted our second highest bagging event thanks to the support of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. Their generous grant enabled us to purchase supplies for 2,000 snack bags.
We met lots of new volunteers, including groups from Amazon Logistics and St. Gabriel. We cannot express how grateful we are to all the individuals and families who dedicate their time, finances, and energy to help us meet the needs in our communities...and on a Friday evening no less! You all are amazing, and you continue to inspire us to keep growing and to keep contributing however we can.
Our outreach partner, Darryl, was able to dispel a few myths about homelessness and help us all better understand the significant impact of what we do through Snacks in Sacks. We can better serve others when we better understand their struggles and needs. We will keep the sugar coming!
Together we made 2,192 bags for houseless outreach. We received an additional 100 bags donated before the event bringing the grand total to 2,292 bags. Donors brought more than 8 cases of water for outreach crews to distribute to those in the camps. Every gift matters. No gift is too small. What you share brings comfort to another, and that fact is truly powerful.
Thanks to everyone who attended, donated, and otherwise helped make this event so amazing! We can't wait to do it again!!!
