These snack bags will be distributed to persons experiencing homelessness in the Louisville area by our outreach partner, Street Reach. Snack bags are fun and easy to make for groups of any size. Addison Reeve collected the above snack items for the Snacks in Sacks bag filling event on July 24, 2021 in Louisville, KY.

We’ve all heard about the ripple effect, right? The awesome collection of snack items you see here is a ripple from a collection drive organized to benefit the Snacks in Sacks February Bag Challenge. A high school junior, Molly Scherer, recruited family and friends to give to the cause. She sent emails, made phone calls, scheduled COVID-friendly porch pickups, and dropped off an astonishing 160 bags full of snack items. Many of her bags were distributed during the emergency weather relief efforts taking place during the ice storm.

She enjoyed the experience so much that she invited friends from her high school to participate with her at our upcoming event. One of the girls who planned to come had a sports related conflict arise. However, instead of just sending her regrets, she became proactive. She asked how she could still help. Inspired by Molly’s story from this past winter, the young lady reached out to her loved ones and collected a huge number of donations for our July 24th event (pictured above)!

Addison Reeve - THANK YOU!!! It never ceases to amaze us when the community comes together to support a mission that is so dear to our hearts. We simply could not help feed and encourage those experiencing homelessness and food insecurity without compassionate and generous people like you.

These students have some wonderful role models. We love to see our younger generations get involved in making a difference within their local communities. I can’t wait to meet the others from Molly and Addison’s school that are coming to help Snacks in Sacks! A huge thank you in advance to all of our other volunteers who will be attending this weekend to donate their time, snack items, and their “pay it forward” energy. We can’t wait to see you again!
